A CANNABIS farmer has been handed a suspended prison sentence after cultivating the illicit plants in the Black Country.

Jacob Lines, of Oxford Street, Kidderminster admitted growing a total of 30 cannabis plants in Quarry Bank when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates' Court on Thursday (November 4).

The 30-year-old was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months for the offence. Lines is now under curfew for six weeks with electronic monitoring.

He was also ordered to pay a £128 surcharge to fund victim services, and £185 in costs.

The defendant's guilty plea taken into account when the sentence was imposed.
