A WOMAN from Brierley Hill has been jailed for theft and assault.

Sheree McCarthy of Pheasant Street was handed a jail term of 20 weeks by Wolverhampton magistrates on Saturday, November 6.

Whilst subject to a community sentence, McCarthy stole £6 of food from One Stop in Wordsley on August 29 and £38.50 of coffee from Farmfoods in Brierley Hill on October 25.

On October 25, the 31-year-old also assaulted an individual by beating.

Magistrates ordered her to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and £50 in compensation.

Meanwhile, a man from Amblecote has been handed a community sentence for racially aggravated behaviour and cultivating drugs.

Lee Smith of Platts Crescent likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to an individual using racially aggravated behaviour or words on July 26 in Oldbury.

On the same day in Kingswinford Platt produced a quantity of cannabis.

The 36-year-old must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within the next twelve months. He must also pay £200 in compensation.

A woman from Wollescote has received a jail term of 16 weeks suspended for 12 months for threatening behaviour and carrying a knife.

Aniela Ariano of The Summit used threatening behaviour towards an individual causing harassment or distress on September 5 in Halesowen.

Ariano also possessed a knife in a public place.

The 47-year-old was handed a restraining order and ordered to pay £185 in costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

A man from Oldbury has been fined after drink driving.

Manjit Singh of Roway Lane drove a motor vehicle on Dudley Road after consuming 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 58-year-old was fined £250 and ordered to pay £135 in costs and a victim surcharge of £34. Singh is disqualified from driving for 16 months.
