STREETS in Stourbridge town centre will be closed on Saturday while Christmas celebrations take place and the festive lights are officially switched on by the Grinch.

Coventry Street, High Street and Market Street will be closed to traffic from 5am to 9pm to enable the festivities to take place safely.

Diversions will be in place which will take motorists via St Johns Road, New Road, and Bath Road, and the one-way order relating to Coventry Street only will be suspended for the duration of the closures.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained.

Festive fun will kick off at around 11am in Stourbridge, with Rock Choir set to perform outside Boots in The Ryemarket from 2pm.

Funtime Theatre will host free pantomime performances of Dick Whittington in the centre at 1.30pm and 3pm.

The Grinch will visit the Ryemarket from 2pm before helping to turn on the Christmas lights at 5pm.

There'll also be street entertainers, market stalls and seasonal refreshments.
