ALL day free parking will be available at Dudley Council car parks in the run up to Christmas.

Shoppers can already park for free for up to two hours on council car parks, but this has been extended to help boost trade during the festive season.

Free parking will be available on council car parks across the borough on Saturday December 11 and 18.

There will also be free parking in Halesowen and Stourbridge on Saturday (November 20) as part of the Christmas lights switch-on events. The same will apply for Dudley and Brierley Hill when both towns hosts their festive lights events on November 27.

Visitors to Sedgley on November 28 will also be able to park for free for the town’s festive lights event. There will also be free parking in Kingswinford for the event on December 4.

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for public realm, said: "It’s something we like to do every year to help traders and shoppers when they need it most – call it an early Christmas present from us!

"It is really important we encourage people into our town centres not only to give them that festive feel in the run up to Christmas but also to boost the local economy."
