A 35-YEAR-OLD Stourbridge man has been given a suspended prison sentence after admitting assaulting a police officer and threatening to damage a police car.

Ernie Taylor, of New Farm Road, pleaded guilty to making a threat to damage property and to common assault of an emergency worker after an incident in Stourbridge on August 25 in which he threatened to damage a West Midlands Police vehicle and assaulted a police officer who was carrying out his duties.

At a hearing on Monday November 22, Dudley magistrates handed him a 15-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to comply with the requirements of a supervision period of 12 months and to pay £50 in compensation.
