A FURNITURE factory and warehouse in Wollaston could be demolished to make away for new homes.

A planning application has been submitted to Dudley Council requesting permission to demolish Stour House on the A461 Wollaston Road and replace it with 11 new detached homes with parking and landscaping.

A design and access statement prepared by Simpatico Town Planning, commissioned by Alps Homes Limited, states: "Under the proposal, all existing buildings within the site would be demolished and all other structures, vehicles, equipment and materials would be cleared, prior to the commencement of development of the new dwellings.

"The proposed development scheme would create 11 new dwellings, of mixed types and design."

The site, near the River Stour, has long been used for industrial purposes and has been occupied by Palace Furniture factory for many years, but the plans would see it transformed with three and four-bedroom homes with private parking areas and all but two plots would include a private garage.

The design and access statement adds: "This development proposal represents an opportunity to provide high quality homes on an allocated housing site, meeting housing needs in the local community.

"The submitted scheme would greatly enhance amenity and vitality in the area, replacing a semi-derelict industrial site with attractive homes surrounded by generous areas of public realm and soft landscaping."
