TALBOTS Law has cancelled its forthcoming festive Pint After Work networking event amid fears over the Covid-19 variant.

The Black Country based law firm had been getting the popular event back up and running following the lifting of coronavirus restrictions in the summer but as concerns grow over the new Omicron variant of Covid that has been detected in the UK the decision has been taken to cancel the event that had been planned for Tuesday December 7 at Sadler's Brewhouse and Bar.

A newsletter sent out by Talbots said: "Following the latest government advice and legislation behind trying to prevent the spread of the latest Covid variant, we've taken the sad decision to cancel our Christmas Pint After Work event that was due to take place on Tuesday December 7.

"Bearing in mind the social distancing challenges at such an informal event, our priority must be to safeguard the health of our guests, our staff, and the staff at Sadlers, and play our part in supporting the effort to stop the spread.

"Christmas is not far away now, and since I'm sure we'd all rather spend it with our families rather than run the risk of spending it in self-isolation, it seems a sensible move to cancel this event.

"We will, however, be back next year - so put a note in your diary for Tuesday February 1. Invitations will be sent out in January."
