A FORMER Stourbridge music teacher is getting set to host another Christmas musical concert to raise money to help the homeless.

Music for Sanctuary, which has raised £17.5k in the last two years for local homeless charities, will be hosting a ‘Sanctuary at Christmas’ gala concert at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday December 12.

More than 100 performers will be involved in the show, which will feature the Central England Ensemble and the Bewdley Choral Society and which will raise funds for St Paul's Hostel in Worcester.

Founder of Music for Sanctuary, Anna Downes, who was director of music at Old Swinford Hospital in Stourbridge, said the show will feature The Snowman by Howard Blake and she added: "Excitingly, former Home Secretary and Strictly Star Jacqui Smith will be the narrator."

Music for Sanctuary was set up in 2019 to raise money for homeless charities through musical events.

Tickets for the concert are £15 and are available by emailing ardviolinist@gmail.com, calling 07967 728588.
