KINVER'S KSCA has been turned into a winter wonderland by a Kingswinford businessman who came up with a n-ice idea for a new venture during the pandemic.

Hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis, karaoke club manager Ashley Walton began turning his dream to start his own business into reality during the lockdowns.

As the coronavirus pandemic took hold, he had no idea what the future would hold for his job and the nightclub industry so, together with partner and photographer Elizabeth Treanor, he began looking at possibilities and experimenting with how to create a real snow play experience using ice.

The 33-year-old dad-of-two said: "I've always wanted to do Christmas events and because Covid happened I came up with this idea of making snow and started making stuff in the garden, trying to figure out how to do it."

Before long SnowCity Events was born and the venture has made its debut at Kinver's KSCA where it will be open right up until Christmas so youngsters can feel like they are walking in a winter wonderland whatever the real weather is doing.

Ashley said: "We can even make snow in the summertime.

"We make the snow by using a massive amount of ice, around one to three tonnes a day of ice, and we are one of the first companies in the UK to make an event with snow made with no toxic products."

The innovative venture offers one-hour snow play sessions and chance to build a snowman, meet Santa and have fun on a snow slide.

It has proved so popular that weekend sessions are now fully booked up although weekday slots remain available, and Ashley is hoping to put on other winter wonderland events in the area in 2022.
