STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb stopped by the town's Elton Centre to see the vaccine booster operation in full swing.
Suzanne, who recently received her third Covid-19 jab, met with centre manager Kim Guest and Dave Harbach, who is chairman of the Board of Trustees, to tour the site which has been administering 450 vaccines a day in the run-up to Christmas to help get as many jabs into arms as possible.
The MP thanked all those "at the Elton Centre and at other local Black Country vaccination sites who are doing a brilliant job getting those jabs into arms in time for Christmas" and she said: “It is vitally important we go and get the booster when we are called forward.
"As the new variant takes hold and infections rise, this is the best protection we have for ourselves, our loved ones and for the NHS.
“The vaccination programme in this country has been just amazing. It has saved lives and put us in a much better position than this time last year despite the Omicron setback.
“I would like to thank everyone who has stepped forward to get their booster."
Suzanne, who had her Pfizer booster jab at Lye's Ghausia Mosque said it was "crystal clear that it is those who are unvaccinated who are in hospital needing the most care, so if you haven’t had any vaccines doses, it is never too late".
The chief executive of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, Diane Wake, also told yesterday how Russells Hall Hospital was seeing "unvaccinated patients very poorly with Covid" and she too urged people to get vaccinated.
People can still get a booster jab at one of the many walk-in clinics locally, despite it being Christmas holiday season.
In the Stourbridge area Lye's Ghausia Mosque in the High Street is hosting a walk-in vaccine clinic on Christmas Eve (Friday December 24) from 9am to 5pm.
Wordsley Community Centre at The Green is also offering walk-in booster jabs on Friday December 24, from 10am to 1pm, and on Monday December 27 and Tuesday December 28, from 10am to 3pm.
