A STOURBRIDGE artist who has found himself lonely at Christmas in the past has given some top tips to help lift the spirits of people who may be alone or having to self-isolate at what's meant to be 'the most wonderful time of the year'.

Experimental artist Cal, who lives in Norton, has shared some ideas to help people have a happy Christmas Day even if they are unable to spend it with friends and family.

He said: "I've spent approximately the last 20 Christmas Days on my own, or with Bull dog RIP (his late Staffordshire bull terrier) so here are my helpful hints to have a great day on your own. I hope this may help someone."

1. Don't worry about putting up decorations if you're not bothered, you only gotta take them down.

2. Get some films in that you have not seen before or favourite films.

3. Forget about turkey, buy yourself the meal you like the most. Maybe prep it before if you don't like cooking. I have a curry every year.

4. Stock up on your favourite snacks and your favourite poison.

5. If you have presents from loved ones give them a phone call while you open it on the day.

6. Go to bed late on Christmas Eve, wake up late on Christmas Day - 11am is about right...no point making your day longer.

7. Forget all concept of time and timing; eat cake in the morning, have toast at night. Do what you want, when you want.

8. Remember it's just another day, and you won't be alone because I will be alone with you.

One of his most recent projects was jazzing up the changing rooms in Swan Pool Park, Norton. He also recently teamed up with Lee Pound of One Shot Charlie's tattoo parlour to produce a colouring book for charity, to help raise funds for Black Country Foodbank, which has been on sale at a number of independent stores in Stourbridge.
