MOTORISTS are warned they face "significant delays" at a busy Stourbridge road junction where temporary traffic signals have been installed while engineers work to repair a cable fault.

Dudley's highways chiefs have announced that Western Power Distribution are undertaking immediate works on Hagley Road at the junction of Heath Lane and Glasshouse Hill to repair a low voltage cable fault.

To complete the repair, temporary traffic signals have been erected at the junction.

A spokesman for Dudley Council's highways department said: "This is an extremely busy junction and the erection of these signals will cause significant delays and congestion in the area.

"Western Power Distribution have been contacted by Dudley Council and agreed to manually control these signals from 7am to 7pm to help mitigate the congestions but significant delays are extremely likely.

"Works are scheduled to take place until January 17 and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes until this time."
