Fiona Phillips has opened up about her experience with menopause, saying that she hoped it would not "end" her career.
The TV presenter, 61, spoke to The Mirror on the subject explaining that she wasn't able to do certain tasks she used to accomplish with ease.
Symptoms of menopause has left her "a tearful, fearful, anxious wreck, a shadow of myself" she said.
She added: “I’ve cried a thousand rivers in the past few weeks and I’ve got nothing to be sad about.
“I’ve been fearing for my sanity and am scared to do things I’ve been doing with ease for years.”
Phillips used to be a main presenter for the ITV breakfast programme GMTV from 1997 to 2008, and has guest presented on a number of other shows including Lorraine and Loose Women.
In the late 2010s she presented several documentaries including The Truth About... series and Panorama: Pension Rip-Odds Exposed.
Phillips talked about some of the symptoms of menopause, including "brain fog" and how she worried that meant she couldn't go back to her usual work.
She explained: “God, it’s horrible, I haven’t worked for the first time in my life, I can’t do television work because I’m so anxious and just scared of everything and I’m not that kind of person at all.
"I have the intent to do everything I used to do, but then your body, your brain, doesn’t let you.
“The fear takes over. I hope to God this isn’t the end of my career.”
