CELEBRATIONS to mark the 90th anniversary of Wollescote Park will include a family fun dog show and performance by the Midland Fret Orchestra.

The Friends of Wollescote Park will be holding their Bark in the Park dog show in Stevens Park on Saturday May 14.

The event, starting at 11am with a Golden Oldies class, will include classes for the most handsome hound, cutest puppy, fancy dress for dogs and best in show with the top prize of a family ticket to Dudley Zoo on offer.

There will also be homemade cake and refreshments available from the volunteer pop-up café, a dog-themed tombola, craft stalls and children’s activities.

Organiser Julia Marks said: “We had a fantastic day in 2019, all the classes were well-attended, and it was great to see so many people and their pets enjoy the event together.

“We’re looking forward to an even better day this year, after having faced cancellations in the past from Hurricane Callum and Covid-19, the event supports lots of charitable good causes - Monarch Mutts, Greyhound Trust, PDSA, We Love Carers.”

She said more information and a full list of classes can be found on the Friends of Wollescote Park Facebook page.

Money raised will support the Friends group’s latest projects which will see new play equipment installed in late June and a defibrillator for the park.
