THE sun brought the crowds out to Stourbridge’s Bark in the Park dog show at the weekend.
The popular, family-friendly fun day made a return to Wollescote Park on Saturday May 14 for the first time since the Covid pandemic hit.
Hundreds of people and dogs turned out to the event, which included stalls selling treats for pooches and home-made cake for humans plus an array of charity stalls.
Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb was among the visitors. The MP also took along her own pooch Sid, who won a bronze in the waggiest tail category.
She also judged the best fancy dress category and the Best in Show competition together with the Deputy Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Sue Greenaway.
She said: “It was a tough one to judge but it was obvious the Best in Show was Paul, a rescue greyhound who is also looking to be rehomed and currently cared for by the Hall Green Greyhound Trust.
“Sid and I had a great day out and this was a superb family and dog event.
“It was a nice dollop of normal life after two years of Covid disruption. It was a fun day had by all.”
The event, organised by the Friends of Wollescote Park, raised more than £2,000 which will be spent on improving Wollescote Park.
