A FIRE broke out a home believed to be being used as a cannabis factory in Quarry Bank.

The fire started at the semi-detached house on Lynvale Road at around 3am this morning (Saturday May 28).

Police and firefighters were at the scene.

The fire spread to the neighbouring semi-detached house.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed that the house was "a suspected cannabis factory."

They said the fire service is waiting for the property to be deemed safe before people are allowed inside.

A resident on Spotted! Quarry Bank, Then & Now Facebook group spoke of their shock.

They said: "Woken up at 3am to loads of noise & flashing lights.

"Looked out the window to see 4 fire engines, police cars & an ambulance.

"The next thing I noticed was smoke billowing from my next door neighbours house.

"Thankfully they are both OK thanks to another neighbour raising the alarm & getting them out of the house.

"The fire started in the loft of the next house down to my neighbours & quickly spread to theirs.

"Extensive damage to both properties but thankfully no one injured."
