A NEW defibrillator has been fitted in Wollescote Park to offer potentially lifesaving help in the event of a cardiac arrest.

Councillor Natalie Neale worked with the Friends of Wollescote Park to get the kit installed on the wall around the sensory garden in Stevens Park, off Wollescote Road.

Cllr Neale secured £500 from AED Donate and the Friends group donated £1,500 after launching an online fundraiser.

Permission was given by the Ernest Stevens Trust for the installation in the grounds of Wollescote Hall – which is Grade II listed.

Cllr Neale said: “I am delighted to see the defibrillator in place and, although it will be unfortunate to see it used, it is a comfort to know it is readily available if needed in an emergency for either an adult or child on the park.

“The need for defibrillators in public areas is one of paramount importance.”

Training will be provided from AED Donate to the Friends group.
