STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb visited Amblecote Primary School to meet the winners of her Queen's Platinum Jubilee card competition.
The MP launched the contest in March with the winning entry sent to Buckingham Palace as a thank you from the people of Stourbridge for The Queen’s 70 years of service.
There were many entries but seven pupils from the school in School Drive joined together to make the winning design.
Maria Raza, aged 10, Evan Carvill, aged 11, Sukhmani Hunjan, aged nine, Finn Jones, aged 11, Oliver James, aged 10, Abigail Colzie-Loat, aged 10 and Isla-Piper Bullock, aged eight, made a colourful and patriotic thank you card for Her Majesty.
It has now been sent to the palace and the children’s names feature inside with a message from the MP.
She said: “What a wonderful pleasure it was to meet the talented children who designed such a brilliant card to send to the Queen on behalf of the whole town.
“I was bowled over by all the entries and the standard was fantastic but this one – and the teamwork behind it - stood out and was a worthy winner."
Headteacher Jane Cook said: “We are all immensely proud of the children for being selected as the winners and it will be something for them to look back on and remember the Platinum Jubilee celebrations with great pride.”
