AN Amblecote Indian restaurant has been awarded a new food hygiene rating of four following a recent inspection.

Improvements were called for at Indiluxe restaurant, located at Audnam, opposite Brettell Lane, after it was handed a rating of just one when food hygiene inspectors visited on March 9.

The popular eaterie has since, however, been re-rated following a further inspection.

Owner Hamdu Miah said he has worked hard to correct the issues highlighted which he said related mostly to new requirements for paperwork concerning the provision of allergen information and best practice.

He said: “There are quite a few new things we have to adhere to and I do understand and have taken this on board and tried to rectify it as soon as possible.”

Mr Miah, who opened the business back in 2014, said he was pleased to have attained a new rating of four following a re-inspection on June 14 and he added: “Despite the new improved four star rating we continue to work with Dudley Council in the pursuit of a five star rating which I believe is achievable.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal customers who have supported us and we look forward to seeing you again soon.”

The FSA rates businesses from zero to five so customers can make more informed choices about where to buy and eat food.

A rating of five means hygiene standards are very good, four means hygiene standards are good, three means hygiene standards are generally satisfactory, two means some improvement is necessary, a rating of one means major improvement is necessary and a rating of zero means urgent improvement is required.

People can see the results of all food hygiene inspections via Dudley Council’s website or on the national ratings.food.gov.uk website.
