VOLUNTEERS cleared 58 bags of rubbish from a borough park in an event organised as part of a regional campaign.
A team of 43 people attended the ‘West Midlands Great Clean Up’ event at Priory Park, Priory Ruins and Coronation Gardens in Dudley on June 25 as part of a Keep Britain Tidy campaign to clean-up the region ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
Councillor Shaz Saleem, Dudley's cabinet member for highways and public realm, thanked the volunteers and said: "Their hard work helped clear the area of discarded rubbish, but I am quite disappointed there was so much to collect.
"It is all of our responsibility to keep our borough clean and tidy and create pride in the areas we live.
"We are weeks away from being part of a global event, let’s all make every effort to keep out streets and parks tidy and be part of creating a positive lasting impression of the region."
