POLICE have issued an appeal to identify a number of football fans captured on CCTV cameras at a pre-season friendly between Stourbridge and Halesowen Town which descended into chaos as flares were thrown.

The game took place at Stourbridge War Memorial Athletic Ground at Amblecote on the evening of Thursday July 21 and there was disorder between both sets of fans.

Flares were launched between fans and onto the pitch.

Police also received reports of drink containers being thrown and had an unconfirmed report of someone with a knife.

There were also pockets of fighting outside the ground in Amblecote High Street after the game ended prematurely due to the unfolding scenes.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We're aware of at least three people being hurt on the night and it's fortunate no-one was seriously injured.

"Enquiries have been ongoing since the night and we'd now like to identify those pictured. No arrests have been made at this time.

"Anyone with information or who can identify someone pictured is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website and quote log 2941 of July 21."
