A NEW landlady has taken the helm at a popular Cradley pub.

Lisa Vincze took over the reins at The Why Not Inn in Whynot Street on Tuesday August 2 after previous landlord David Cooper retired.

She said people were queueing to get in on Tuesday and has been delighted with the response from customers.

Lisa, who is married with a 5-year-old son, has never worked in the pub trade before having been a manager for a construction tool hire firm for 31 years

She said: "It's all new to me.

"I live near the pub, within walking distance, so when the previous landlord decided to retire and put the lease up I thought I'm 50 now I've worked all my life for other people, now it's time to do something for myself and my family.

"I love being around people and talking to people.

"The pub's got a good reputation and I'm hoping that I can continue that and bring in more customers."

Lisa has taken on two new chefs including head chef Adam Dowdswell and has introduced a new menu, but is keeping the old favourites including the Sunday carvery.

She has put new finishing touches to the pub, saying "I just wanted to put my stamp on it."

Previous landlord David Cooper retired after 16 years at the pub.
