A WORDSLEY councillor has celebrated the installation of a third public access defibrillator in the village.

Councillor Kerry Lewis led the campaign to get the third piece of life-saving kit installed on the walls of the Richardson Hall in Wordsley.

A total of £1,400 was raised to help fund the device along with a bleed kit.

Cllr Lewis said: "I'm so pleased the defibrillator and bleed kit is now installed. This is 24 hours accessible to the local community.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you for the generous donations from the people of Wordsley.

“This has brought such an important life-saving device to our community, a vital piece of equipment as you will never know when someone will require it.”

She also thanked Darren and Liam Sproson of Euro Electrics, in Kingswinford, for installing the defibrillator cabinet, and Andy Jeynes, head of community response at West Midlands Ambulance Service, who delivered CPR and defibrillator training.

The device has now been registered with The Circuit – the national defibrillator network which connects defibrillators to NHS ambulance services across the UK so it can be accessed quickly to help save a life in the crucial moments after a cardiac arrest.

The other two defibrillators in the village are located on the walls of High Acres pub and Ashwood Park Primary School.
