AN elderly man died after suffering a medical emergency at Merry Hill, the ambulance serice has now confirmed.

Emergency medics and police were called to an incident in Times Square Avenue yesterday afternoon (Tuesday August 9).

Nothing, however, could be done to save the man and he was confirmed to have died at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car after being alerted at 3.53pm and a spokesperson said: "Upon arrival we found an elderly man in a critical condition. He received advanced life support at the scene.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased.”

A spokesperson for Merry Hill said: "Yesterday afternoon, an elderly visitor suffered medical difficulties near to the bus station at the centre.

"Despite the best efforts of the paramedics, and support of our team, the visitor sadly passed away shortly after. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.”
