POPULAR TV host and former Hagley schoolboy Adrian Chiles is getting on his bike alongside England star Alan Shearer as part of a fundraising cycling trip across the country.

The One Show presenter, who grew up in Hagley, is teaming up with the former striker taking part in The Sport Relief Super Cycle' which will see them travel 335 miles in 24 hours from Newcastle to London.

But Adrian has also ensured they get to stop off at his beloved West Bromwich Albion's home The Hawthorns during the gruelling challenge kicking off at St James's Park next Thursday (March 13).

On day one the daring duo plan to cycle 186 miles with day two scheduled to take in an equally testing 149 miles. Adrian and Alan aim to finish up at London's BBC Television Centre on the big Sport Relief night next Friday (March 14).

The pair decided to take on the cycling challenge after visiting project Sport Relief supports earlier this year.

Former Haybridge High School student Adrian said: "It's a great cause, it should be fantastic.

"I live in central London so I don't get to cycle round Hagley and the Worcestershire hills like I used to but I've been training ok.

"Adding in The Hawthorns makes it a much more difficult route, but if we're starting at St James's Park I didn't see any reason why I couldn't go there.

"I will be asking for donations from my rich friends!
