STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb has sworn allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III in the House of Commons.

Ms Webb delivered the oath in parliament on Wednesday holding the King James Bible following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

The MP said: “As an ardent monarchist, I was honoured to swear my allegiance to His Majesty King Charles.

“His role in our democracy as our Head of State is of the utmost importance. We must support him in every way we can. I wish him a long reign in the service of the country and Commonwealth.”

The oath says: I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles III, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.”
