I had a really positive meeting with Stourbridge’s most senior police officer last week and top of the agenda was a new police base in the constituency.

Since I was elected in 2019, one of my campaigns has been to find a way of basing officers in Stourbridge. The closure of the station in 2017 was short sighted in my view. From what I have heard from local people, it appears they agree. They want to see a permanent police base in the area to offer reassurance in our communities.

I also spoke with Chief Superintendent Anthony Tagg about anti-social behaviour in Lye following residents getting in contact. He promised to look into it.

But the major take from the get together was the officer telling me he is in active negotiations for a police base in Stourbridge.

This is tremendous news and I look forward to receiving updates in the near future.

I believe it is really important everyone in Stourbridge is able to come to Westminster and visit parliament to see the House of Commons and understand how and where our democracy takes place.

Now the pandemic is behind us, it is full steam ahead for guided visits for constituents to the palace. If you are a resident or part of a community group or local organisation in Stourbridge and you and your group would like to come, please do get in touch with me via email at suzanne.webb.mp@parliament.uk I would love to see you in the capital at some time.

My long running campaign to protect our green spaces is continuing. I continue to talk with concerned residents and campaign with local councillors.

As I have said many times, we need to ensure houses are built on brownfields first and they are the right houses in the right place with the right infrastructure around them. You can rest assured this remains one of my priorities.

Another priority is jobs and there was very good news this week as the latest figures show unemployment is at a record low.

The Office for National Statistics found unemployment in the UK fell to 3.5 per cent in the three months to August this year. It was previously 3.8 per cent. It is at the lowest level since February 1974. This is one of the economic positives at the moment in what are challenging times.

The Government’s Energy Price Guarantee kicked on at the beginning of this month. It means average households should pay no more than £2,500 for their energy per year until 2024. This is another example of the substantial support this government is undertaking for households across the West Midlands.
