A PETITION calling for bleed kits to be installed in nightclubs following the death of Cody Fisher has received a staggering amount of support – achieving more than 20,000 signatures.

The petition titled ‘Cody’s Law’ on Change.org is campaigning for mandatory metal detectors and bleed kits for all nightclubs and events.

Thousands of supporters have signed the petition which was started by Kim Morris around a week ago after the death of footballer Cody Fisher, who was killed at a Birmingham nightclub on Boxing Day.

One supporter wrote: “A metal detector at the entrance of a club should be mandatory to identify a weapon so avoiding another senseless murder.”

Another posted: “Cody had his whole life ahead of him. A kind, talented young man who has his life taken away by a knife. At a place where he should have been safe to have fun.”

Cody was enjoying a night out with his friends, which included several of his teammates from Stratford Town FC, when he was fatally stabbed on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub on Adderley Street, Digbeth.

The 23-year-old sports coach also previously played for Bromsgrove Sporting, Stourbridge FC and Kidderminster Harriers’ academy.

Two men who have been charged with the murder of Cody have been told they will stand trial on July 3 after a plea hearing on March 17.

Kami Carpenter aged 21 of no fixed address and Remy Gordon aged 22 of Cofton Park Drive, Rednal were both remanded in custody after a seven-minute hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, January 4.

Crane nightclub had its licence suspended for 28 days on Friday, December 30 after accusations by police that there had been “serious management failings” at the venue on the night of the incident.
