BRAZEN thieves stole wood worth £6k from a yard behind a shop in Colley Gate.

CCTV shows the men driving away with their haul, which they had stolen from a unit behind Premier convenience store on Foredraft Street.

It happened yesterday (Sunday March 12) at around 8.30am.

Owner Waheed Murad, who runs Windmill Laundrette, is reeling at the loss and shared CCTV of the suspects on the Fatherless Barn kids, colley gate Facebook page.

It shows the two men, wearing high-visibility jackets, one walking away while the other drives a blue pick-up truck out of the road laden with the stolen wood.

Waheed said he arrived at 9am, just after they had left, to find the gates open and wood which he planned to use to put a roof on the unit behind the shop, gone.

The 50-year-old father-of-four said: "I'm very stressed about it all.

"It's not only the money, but the time, now I will have to re-order the wood.

"I will have to buy it all again. I wasn't insured.

"If anyone has any information I urge them to contact the police."

Waheed said he is refurbishing the unit, but has not yet decided what it will be used for.

West Midlands Police have been contacted for comment.
