A MAN in his 30s has died after the car he was driving was involved in a horror crash with a bus near Birmingham Airport.

Emergency services rushed to Airport Way just before 1pm today (Monday July 10) to reports of a road smash.

A man driving an Audi, however, was pronounced dead at the scene - despite efforts by police and ambulance crews who were called to help.

West Midlands Police said the man's family was being supported by specially trained officers following the tragic news.

Detective Sergeant Julie Lyman, from the West Midlands Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, issued an appeal for witnesses - particularly people with dash cam footage - and she added: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man and we are doing all we can to support them at this very difficult time.”

Witnesses or people with information are asked to contact officers via Live Chat on the force website or by calling 101 and quoting log number 2311 of July 10 or people can email detectives direct at SCIU@westmidlands.police.uk
