BROMSGROVE Conservatives have announced their candidate for the next general election, hoping to take the reins from outgoing MP, Sajid Javid.

Bradley Thomas, leader of Wychavon District Council, has been chosen as the Conservative's prospective parliamentary candidate.

Mr Thomas has served as a councillor since 2015 and has led Wychavon District Council since 2018.

Following the announcement, Bromsgrove Conservatives tweeted: “Bradley Thomas, our Conservative Parliamentary candidate, has a proven track record of success as a district council leader at Wychavon District Council.

“He has maintained essential services without raising council tax, the 3rd lowest district council in the country.

“His visionary leadership resulted in impressive investments of £28 million across the district, fostering economic growth and enriching leisure assets.

“His dedication is evident in his support for vital projects, such as a modern cycling facility and a property for the homeless.

“Now, as the Parliamentary candidate for Bromsgrove, he brings that same commitment and experience to champion the future of our district.

“With Bradley, Bromsgrove can expect more progress, prosperity, and an even brighter tomorrow, building on the record of Sajid Javid.”

Mr Thomas said he is humbled and thrilled to be selected as the Conservative candidate.

He added: “As a Worcestershire native I’m looking forward to campaigning across the entire constituency in the county I call home.”

Sajid Javid, the current MP for Bromsgrove announced earlier this year that he would stand down at the next election.

The date of the next general election has not yet been announced but the maximum term for Parliament is five years therefore it will be automatically dissolved on December 17, 2024.

A general election would be held 25 days after this meaning it would fall in January 2025.
