A GROUP of travellers were reportedly being escorted out of the borough this afternoon after pitching up in Quarry Bank after a series of unauthorised stops in the area.

The group first set up camp at Hawbush Community Centre before moving onto Brompton Park, at Withymoor, Brierley Hill, on Thursday (August 17).

They were swiftly moved from the park by the police after a section 62 order was served on Thursday evening but were later sighted on private land off Thorns Road in Quarry Bank.

A large police presence was seen at the scene, on the site of a former health club, but the group have reportedly now been moved on.

Councillor Paul Bradley, deputy leader of Dudley Council, said: “Enforcement officers attended this afternoon with police to carry out the enforcement of the section 62 that was issued yesterday.”

He confirmed the travellers have now left the site and said they were going to be escorted out of the borough.

Cllr Bradley added: “No arrests were made and the operation went without incident.”
