FOUR men have been taken to hospital - two with serious injuries - after a crash in Wollescote this morning.

The air ambulance, police and firefighters were called to the crash between a car and a van at the junction of Wollescote Road of Hodge Hill Avenue at 8.38am today (Wednesday August 30).

Seven men were assessed by medics - with two men - the driver and passenger of the car suffering serious injuries.

They were taken to the QE by land ambulance, with the road closed for a while.

Two passengers from the van had suffered "potentially serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening" and were taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Upon arrival we found seven men who were assessed by ambulance staff at the scene.

“The driver of and a passenger in the car were assessed and has sustained serious injuries.

"They received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene.

“They were both conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

“Two passengers from the van were assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

“They received treatment from ambulance staff and were conveyed to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment.

“Three further patients from the van, who were the driver and two passengers were assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

“They received self care advice from ambulance staff and did not require further treatment.

"They were discharged at the scene.”
