FIRE crews are at the scene of a large factory fire in Dudley.

The alarm was raised at 12.05pm and West Midlands Fire Service currently has around 35 firefighters at the scene in Crackley Way, just off Peartree Lane, near Netherton.

The fire has been described as "sigificant" and is believed to have broken out at a bakery.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Six fire engines and two 4x4 brigade response vehicles responded. The first vehicle arrived at the scene within three minutes of being mobilised.

"This incident involves a significant fire on the first floor of a factory unit.

"A full site evacuation and roll call has been carried out and everyone has been accounted for.

"Firefighters in breathing apparatus are attempting to bring the fire under control.

"We will be issuing updates on this incident when we have them."

Members of the public have reported being able to see smoke from the scene across Dudley and drone pilot James Handley, of Drone Air Solutions Ltd in Stourbridge, captured the dramatic scenes on camera.

He managed to take a series of aerial images of the blaze which he said had filled the air with "a lovely aroma of sugar".
