RESIDENTS in Brierley Hill, Wordsley and surrounding areas will once again have chance to improve their CPR and defibrillator (AED) knowledge this November at a training event organised by local councillors.

The free session, organised by Brierley Hill ward councillors Adam Davies and Wayne Little, will again be held at Brierley Hill Civic Hall and will see lifesaving training delivered by representatives from West Midlands Ambulance Service and local charity Dudley Community First Responders.

The event, the third annual training session organised, is free to attend and will include a presentation on how to give CPR, use a defibrillator (AED), and will give attendees chance to practice CPR on the night using a Resuscitation Annie doll.

Taking place on Tuesday November 14, the event will start at 6.30pm start and is expected to finish at around 8pm.

Cllr Davies said: “We know when it comes to helping people who have suffered a cardiac arrest, that more lives can be saved if those around them know what to do. We saw it again earlier this year when Tina Round from Brierley Hill Market Café heroically jumped into action to help a passing shopper.

“That’s why we’ve brought this session back for the third year running – to give local people another opportunity to boost their knowledge and confidence when it comes to giving lifesaving CPR or using a defibrillator to help someone in need.”

Cllr Little added: “We’re really grateful to Andy from West Midlands Ambulance Service and Paul from Dudley CFRs for once again agreeing to deliver this important training. With more AED devices being installed around our ward, it is so important that people know how to use them.” Booking isn’t essential, but attendees are asked to register online at tinyurl.com/BHdefibtraining beforehand if possible.

Those who can’t register online can turn up on the night.
