A BID to convert a Brierley Hill pub into apartments has been turned down by planners.

The application to turn the Dog & Lamp Post pub on Dudley Road into three apartments and build a new block at the rear to house two apartments has been given the thumbs down.

Notes by planners state the former pub dates from the 19th century.

They state that although the development is acceptable in principle "there are significant concerns in relation to highway safety in relation to the access, parking and turning, as well as to development failing to meet the adopted space standards for dwellings, together with concerns in relation to the access, parking and turning, as well as to development failing to meet the adopted space standards for dwellings."

They said there were also "concerns in relation to the design of the new building block."

The planning application was refused on November 2.
