A HORROR crash in Lye has left a man dead and a community in shock.

Emergency services flooded the scene after a car crashed outside the Johnsons Škoda Stourbridge garage on Stourbridge Road, by Engine Lane, just before 7pm last night.

Police have now confirmed the 21-year-old driver of a black BMW 325 M Sport died at the scene.

The busy road was closed off while emergency crews worked at the scene and police have now issued an appeal for witnesses and information about what happened.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We believe two other cars were involved and could have contributed to the collision. Both cars did not stop and we’re now appealing for the drivers to come forward, or asking for anyone with information to come forward.

"We’re looking for a white car, possibly a hatchback, and a small dark coloured car.

"We’re exploring CCTV from the scene outside a car dealership and the surrounding area. We’re also speaking to witnesses, but we would like to hear from anyone else who can assist us in discovering how this young man has tragically lost his life.

"Our specialist investigators are in touch with the man’s family, so that we can keep them fully updated with our investigation. Our thoughts remain with them, after receiving such devastating news."

People on social media site Next Door have described the incident as “tragic”.

Anyone with information that could help the police investigation is asked to contact the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit by emailing sciu@westmidlands.police.uk or by contacting officers via Live Chat or 101, quoting log 3933 of 10/11.
