STOURBRIDGE’S Cat Eccles has said she feels “honoured” to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for the next General Election.
Councillor Cat Eccles, who represents Wollaston and Stourbridge Town on Dudley Council, will do battle with Conservative incumbent MP Suzanne Webb when the General Election comes round between now and December 2024.
She said after news of her selection was confirmed: “I'm honoured to be selected as the Labour Party candidate for my hometown. I look forward to delivering a Labour victory here in Stourbridge.”
The last Labour MP for Stourbridge was Lynda Waltho who lost her seat to Conservative Margot James in 2010.
Cllr Eccles, who won her seat on Dudley Council in May 2022, works as an operating department practitioner in the NHS and during the pandemic she was a key member of the Stourbridge Community Support group – providing help and assistance for people in need during the lockdowns.
