A MAN has been taken to hospital after suffering a medical emergency at Stourbridge’s King Edward VI College.

The incident happened at lunchtime today (Friday January 26) just before 1pm.

An ambulance with blue lights on was seen pulling up on the ring road at the rear of the top college at around 1.30pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed medics were alerted to the college site and the college has since confirmed the drama involved one of its teachers.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency at King Edward VI College at 12.48pm, one ambulance attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated and taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital.”

King Edward's principal Holly Bembridge added: "One of our teachers suffered a medical emergency today but is thankfully recovering after the quick actions and care of team members here and the ambulance crew. "
