Hagley Library will be temporarily closed from February 19 and will reopen on February 22.

The Worcestershire County Council said the closure is due to essential building work to improve the toilet facilities at the library.

The upgraded facilities will be accessible to all customers and will also include baby changing facilities.

Councillor Marcus Hart, cabinet member for Communities at Worcestershire County Council, said: "We're really pleased to be working alongside Hagley Parish Council to improve the facilities for our customers at Hagley Library.

"Ensuring our customers have access to appropriate facilities is a key part of our library experience, and will also hopefully encourage more customers to join groups and make the most of their local library space."

The project is a joint venture between Worcestershire County Council and Hagley Parish Council.

The improvements are expected to allow customers to spend more time in the library and improve the experience for those attending regular activity sessions such as Bounce and Rhyme, Active Tots, Readers Group, and Knit and Natter.

The council said during the library's closure, an extended loan period will be offered to library customers.

Book returns can still be made through the letterbox outside or alternatively at any other Worcestershire Library.

The closest locations to Hagley include libraries in Kidderminster, Bromsgrove or Rubery.
