A STOURBRIDGE care home held an afternoon tea for two long lost best friends who have been reunited in their twilight years.

Parkfield Grange, in Hagley Road, held a Galentine’s afternoon tea for two residents who discovered they had been best pals some 70 years earlier.

Joan Dudley, aged 99, and Iris Webb, aged 98, made the surprise discovery while chatting over dinner.

The pair had lost contact decades ago – but had been the best of friends in their youth when they used to attend dances.

Iris said: “It’s so amazing that we found each other after so long. The staff are so lovely and help us to keep our friendship by having lunch together every day and helping us secure a weekly joint hair appointment.”

Joan added: “It’s so lovely to have a familiar face and friend here and to catch up on the old times.”

Galentine's Day celebrates women's friendship and is typically marked on February 13, but can be observed any day between February 1 and Valentine's Day.
