CGI images show how a proposed new development of apartment blocks overlooking the Stourbridge Canal would look.
Revelan Developments Ltd has lodged a planning application with Dudley Council seeking permission to build eight new apartment blocks comprising 94 new homes on former industrial sites off Canal Street and Bradley Road, Stourbridge.
A total of 46 one and two-bedroom apartments – three to four storeys in height – are proposed for the derelict former Rolling Mills site off Canal Street; while 48 one and two-bedroom affordable apartments on the former Linkwood industrial site off Bradley Road.
New offices would also be built near to Stourside Hospital, off Bradley Road.
A spokesperson for Halesowen based Revelan Developments said: “What we’re trying to do is complete the jigsaw of regeneration on the canal corridor.”
He said the aim is to build a development that’s in-keeping with the Conservation Area and that will “revitalise” the canalside while “delivering affordable homes and private homes and getting rid of land that’s a pretty bad eyesore”.
A design and access statement, prepared by Lever Turner & Cowdell Limited on behalf of Revelan Developments Ltd for submission to planners, says the proposals would provide much-needed homes, make good use of a previously developed brownfield site and help to encourage investment in the nearby town centre.
