Stourbridge post-punk rockers are set to support some old school legends of the scene at their much anticipated return gig to the area.

Sweetpool, along with Jo-Jo and the Teeth, have been announced as the support acts for pioneering punk rockers Eater when they grace the stage at The Night Owl in Birmingham, on Saturday, June 29 at 7pm.

Eater, who formed in North London in 1976, are revered in underground scenes, despite not achieving mainstream fame.

Known for their raw sound created in small clubs in Birmingham, the band has the distinction of being one of punk's youngest when they debuted, all aged between 14 and 17.

The upcoming gig will be their first in Birmingham since 1978, 46 years ago.

They will be joined by Sweetpool, who, from humble beginnings in small Black Country clubs, have ascended rapidly, selling out venues within a year and a half of their formation.

In addition to live performances known for post-punk grooves, motorik beats and 'psycho flamenco space noise', they've managed to record three albums since their formation.

Their second, a live album titled 'Space Bar' is set for release to coincide with their supporting slot for Eater.

The band's debut release, 'Triple Earth Star', dropped earlier this year, and work on their third album is underway.
