With bleeding being the single most preventable cause of death, the ambulance service is campaigning to educate people on how to deal with it.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and citizenAID will host a 'Stop The Bleed Training' event on Saturday, April 27 at Sandwell Hub.

The training will equip attendees with skills to manage bleeding, giving victims the best chances of survival.

WMAS director of performance and improvement, Nathan Hudson said: "Ambulance staff know how important good bystander intervention can be and knowing what to do, and having the confidence to do it could save a life.

"The training is incredibly important, and we hope to see as many people as possible there on the day learning to potentially make a life-saving impact."

Professor Sir Keith Porter, co-founder of citizenAID added: "The time between an injury occurring and the arrival of skilled help is when many injured patients die, with the most common preventable cause of death being blood loss."
