TWO daring skydivers and an outdoor cinema are the past and present of fundraising for Whitchurch’s Bradbury Centre.

Millie Wilson is a fundraiser at the Claypit Street centre and she, with her colleague Kay Powell, took to the skies to raise money.

She admitted that some parts of the whole event remained ‘mental’ but admitted she wished had more time in the air.

But Millie also knew that the cause behind her decision was a good one, to continue helping her colleagues and service users by raising money.

“We did the jump last month,” said Millie.

“When I saw the first person fall from the sky before me, it was crazy.

“But straight after I wished that I could have done it for longer.

“The fact that it was for raising money at the Bradbury Centre is what helped me get through it.

“Kay and I raised £1,400 together which is incredible and we’re so grateful for everything for donating to us.

“I’m so proud of her and of myself.”

Kay added that she would have enjoyed the jump even on its own but admitted the fact that she could raise money for the centre was a cherry on top.

She said: “It was amazing – I loved it and I would do it again.

“I love my job so I would do anything for it but I also loved my colleagues and the service users so it was a pleasure to be able to raise the funds for them.

“I wanted to help so they can keep doing activities, going out and having fun.”

Millie had already turned her thoughts to more fundraising activities before her jump, and says she is bring a first to Whitchurch next month.

The centre is holding an outdoor cinema at Hadley Park caravan site, off the A525, on Friday, June 14 (from 7pm) to raise more money for the centre.

Millie said this will be a more sedate affair but admitted she is pleased at bringing a cinema experience like this to the town.

She said: “The sky wasn’t the limit for us – we’re just getting started and I’m looking forward to bringing the outdoor cinema.

“It’s not really been done in Whitchurch before, watching a film under the stars, and you can bring a picnic too.

“As there’s a licenced bar on a campsite, you can bring a tent as well and book to stay.”
