A terminally-ill war veteran from Wirral has released a "no holds barred" book about his battle with terminal cancer.

Edward Denmark's latest work B Positive is described as a "profound and inspiring account that takes the reader on a deeply touching journey through diagnosis, treatment, the secrets of survival and finding solace and humour in the depths of despair".

Following his critically acclaimed book about his difficult upbringing, We Spoke In Whispers, and the equally successful Not For Queen And Country about his time served in the British Army, B Positive completes his trilogy.

Written with "brutal honesty", the book documents his gruelling battle with living and dealing with terminal cancer.

With the aim of inspiring and helping people appreciate the value of life, his story is sprinkled with pearls of wisdom, humour and ways to stay resilient and positive in the darkest adversity.

Re-assessing life and what truly matters, Edward, from Moreton, reminds the reader of the importance of cherishing every moment and living each day as if it were your last.

Edward said: "Whether it be surviving an upbringing of poverty, fighting in war or battling cancer, I have always remained positive.

"Everything in life comes down to mindset and mine has served me well — put it this way, I have far outlasted my life expectancy from the doctors.

He continued: "My aim is to remind people of how precious life is but to also give them the inspiration and tools to cope mentally with sickness, pain and extreme adversity.

"I also hope that the book may be of assistance to anyone in a similar position to me — the one thing we do have control of is our attitude and that can be the difference between life and death.”

Edward fought in The Falklands War in 1982 and has since befriended Argentinians who have yet to be recognised by their government for their role in the conflict.

He is now campaigning for them to be recognised, with key evidence now submitted to Congress.

He went on to serve in Northern Ireland before becoming a published author and peace advocate and has terminal blood cancer.

One of Edward’s books, Not For Queen And Country, led to interest from Argentina and this opened up dialogue between Edward and his former combatants via social media.

Through this, Edward became good friends with Julio Herrera Vidal who was guarding the mainland airbases in Argentina during the war.

These men were forced to put their life on the line for their country yet still to this day have not been granted veterans status, healthcare or pensions.

Understanding first hand the vital role the Argentine airbases played in the conflict, and also that British Special Forces at the time were launching attacks on the mainland soldiers, Edward was outraged by the news. He has since been on a mission to help his brothers in arms achieve the recognition they deserve.

A man who, by his own admission. simply won’t be defeated, he took on the Argentine government for not recognising their war veterans and his story is one of utter defiance in the face of death.

Publisher Susan Westoby from Liverpool Books Online said: "We’ve been publishing books for local authors for many years now, some achieving Times Bestseller status, and once in a while I’ll come across a particularly special story that has the potential to make a real difference in the world.

"This is one of them.

"I truly hope this gets out as far and wide as possible so that it helps and inspires as many people as possible."
