A MAN who was arrested after a crash in Amblecote at the weekend left a man fighting for life has been released on bail. 

The 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a car crashed into parked cars on High Street, just after midnight on Sunday (May 19).

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said today (Wednesday May 22) that the man, who had been in custody being questioned by officers, has been released on bail. 

They said the injured man, who suffered life-threatening injuries, is still in hospital. 

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released on bail while our enquiries continue.

"A 29-year-old man injured in the crash remains in hospital for treatment.

"We are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact us via Live Chat or by emailing sciu@westmidlands.police.uk quoting log 133 of 19 May."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said after the incident: "We were called to reports of an RTC on High Street in Amblecote, Stourbridge at 12.35am.

"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered one car had come off the road and been involved in a collision.

"A man was found outside of the vehicle in a critical condition and ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support.

"He was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with MERIT travelling on board to continue treatment en route."
