Drivers have been issued an urgent reminder of the risks of travelling on rural roads this summer.
TyreSafe, a UK road safety organisation, has emphasised that tyre safety is critical when travelling on rural roads, which account for 59 per cent of road deaths in the past decade.
Drivers are strongly advised to ensure their tyres are in good nick, which is essential for safe braking and cornering.
Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe chair, said: "As more people hit the roads this summer, it’s crucial to remember that tyre safety is key to a safe journey".
