THERE'S been a buzz around Stourbridge Ryemarket with the arrival of rooftop bees.
The two beehives have been sat empty in the space next to the 1st floor of the Ryemarket car park since June, but now the bees have been moved into their new homes.
The colonies are being cared for by beekeeper couple Caz and Dean Barratt who also own Eco Maniax Zero Waste & Refill Shop in the Ryemarket.
And the honey could make its way into the shop next year.
Caz said: “We undertook a beekeeping course earlier in the year and have support and advice on hand in caring for our bees.”
Dean said: “We’ve always had an interest in bees and with the backing of Ryemarket Centre manager Aaron Powell, we were able to utilise this secure space and add hives and planters for the bees.
"At the moment we are concentrating in keeping the colonies strong enough to overwinter but maybe next year if there’s surplus honey then it will be available in the shop as we currently sell other local honeys.”
