MYSTERY surrounds scores of flags which have been put up around Stourbridge ring road.

The eye-catching flags with positive messages such as 'Bee Kind,' 'Bostin,' 'Spread Tolerance' and 'Celebrate Young People' have been installed over the past couple of days.

They have become a talking point on social media, with people speculating about who has put them up.

Councillor Andrew Tromans said: "I have never been more proud of my community.

"Flags with positive messages of love, tolerance and peace have been installed around the ring road.

"So long as they dont present a danger then we're saying they should stay."

Rich Prosser and Steve Hancock for Wollaston and Stourbridge Town posted a video of the flats saying: "A series of hand-painted flags have gone up on lamp posts around the ring road. Can you make out what they say?"

Some people commented about the flags on the Streetlifers of Stourbridge and All Surrounding Areas Facebook page.

One said: "Just seen these flags. Lovely to see Stourbridge spreading love not hatred and exclusion."

Another said: "They're feel good flags with a positive message designed by students from King Eds. A great idea by Luke Perry, usually known for his fantastic metal sculptures."

On another post one person said: "One reads choose kindness and lots of them have hearts on which is lovely and just shows how welcoming Stourbridge is."

But not everyone was so positive about them with one person saying: "they look a mess."

We have contacted King Edward VI College, Luke Perry and Dudley Council.
